SUPERINTENDENT'S REPORT: Mav~2007
TEACHING AND LEARNING
• Autism Workshop. The R-7 School District Autism Education Coordinators and
Behavior Specialists will be hosting a 4-day workshop entitled, "Working with
students with Autism Spectrum Disorders in the educational environment" June
18 - 21 at the University of Central Missouri Campus at the Summit Technology
Center. The cost of this workshop will be waived for all R-7 Employees and for
R-7 Parents of children with an Autism Spectrum Disorder. The cost of the
conference to all others is $150.
I want to express my appreciation for Ms. Sherri Tucker, a parent in the R-7
School District and member of the Autism Support Group for organizing the
Lee's Summit Autism Conference held at Legacy Christian Church this past
Monday evening. Sherry asked that I also recognize the following individuals for
their assistance in ensuring that this event was successful: Aimee Davis, Norma
Limon, Joyce Lindsey, JJ Ringgold, Betty Sharp, Debbie Shaumeyer, Vanessa
Shields, Lois Tucker, Holly Wood, and Regina Yaros.
Each of these events is an expression of a desire to work together in the pursuit to
meet the needs of children with Autism Disorders. Thanks again to these parents
and don't forget to look into the upcoming workshop hosted by the district in
June.
