MO auditor reveals problems uncovered in Lee's Summit schools - KCTV5
Why weren't the patrons notified of this meeting? I would have like to have attended. I would like to see an audit of their programs. Not a financial audit, but a quality audit. I already know what the results would be.
Why weren't the patrons notified of this meeting? I would have like to have attended. I would like to see an audit of their programs. Not a financial audit, but a quality audit. I already know what the results would be.
among the problems the auditor is pointed out is the more $116,000 spent that "the district did not competitively bid several purchases in accordance with district administrative procedure and state law."
The biggest chunk of change spent without an attempt to get the best deal possible was nearly $30,000 for a class trip to China.
Other items that caught the auditor's eye was spending on tech installation totaling nearly $22,000 and some printing projects totaling over $20,000.
Many wonder how Lee's Summit officials respond to questions about the these no-bid contracts.
According to the report, "the district agrees adequate bidding and documentation is not available."
Another sore spot for the auditor was how nearly $700,000 more of tax dollars are used.
The auditor says Lee's Summit needs to do a better job of looking more new vendors to see if they're getting the best deal. One area in particular where this came up, was student transportation.
