Former Lee's Summit Elementary Principal Now A Fourth Grade Teacher

It seems that a former Lee's Summit and Ray-Pec principal is now a fourth grade teacher in the Kansas City, MO school system.  Here is the trail to her current position.  I wonder how she managed to go backwards.

Susan Romeo, principal of Raymore Elementary School, will leave the
Ray-Pec School District at the end of the school year to take a position as
principal of a new elementary school in Lee’s Summit.

The Ray-Pec Board of Education on Dec. 18 accepted Romeo’s
resignation, effective June 16, 2009. On that same date, the Lee’s Summit
School District Board of Education named Romeo as
principal of its new elementary school, scheduled to open
in fall 2009.

The Lee’s Summit district’s 18th elementary school is
under construction in southeast Lee’s Summit on Ranson
Road. The school, along with other facilities and
improvements, is funded by an April 2009 voter-approved
bond issue.

Romeo has been principal at Raymore Elementary
School since 2003 and previously worked as a classroom
teacher and principal intern in the Raytown School
District, as a teacher in the Butler School District and as
a student teacher and teacher associate in the Lee’s
Summit School District. She has 18 years of experience as a professional
educator.

A Lee’s Summit resident, Romeo earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary
education and a master’s degree in elementary school administration, both from
the University of Central Missouri. She is pursuing her doctorate in school
administration through the University of Kansas.

First she left her position as a principal at a Lee's Summit Elementary School.  She was chosen to be the principal over employees already working for the district.  She left unexpectedly with little to no notice.  Then her contract with Lone Jack was terminated.  Someone really needs to investigate this.

James Leath moved to rescind the motion of November 26th to terminate the contract with teacher Susan Romeo. Shannon Chura seconded the motion. Vice President Surber announced the motion carried 5-0 by roll call vote as follows: James Leath, yea; Danny Barker, yea; Shannon Chura, yea; Brian Snow, yea; Rod Surber, yea.

Shannon Chura made the motion to accept the separation agreement and  release with Susan Romeo entered into as of the 29th day of November 2012 with the Lone Jack Board of Education. James Leath seconded the motion. Vice President Surber announced the motion carried 5-0 with the roll call vote as follows: James Leath, yea; Danny Barker, yea; Shannon Chura, yea; Brian Snow, yea; Rod Surber, yea.

About Our School 
Our school is located at 3958 Chelsea, in Kansas City, Missouri. It is named after George Melcher, who was superintendent from 1928 to 1940.
  • George Melcher Elementary opened its doors  in 1962.
  • In 1976, the school was changed from a K-7 to a school with kindergarten, fifth and sixth grades.
  • In 1988, it became a foreign language magnet offering Spanish, French and German to fourth- and fifth-graders.
  • Currently our school is a K-6, with two exceptional education classrooms,  five support classrooms, and three auxiliary staff members.
  • Bell Schedule: 9:00a.m. - 4:15p.m.

it is well known to EVERYONE she was having an affair with the then newly hired Superintendent of Lee's Summit, MO school district, David McGehee. Everyone was appalled to learn he gave his mistress the principal position at the newest and fanciest school in the district. Then, she left her position at the LS elementary school without notice--just simply didn't show up to work one day. I had the not so pleasurable experience of meeting her during an IEP meeting when she was a Principal in Ray-Pec. She was condescending right out of the gate--and the way she dealt with the mother of the child with a disability was disgusting, degrading, and inexcusable. She's a terrible person.

I have heard this, but I haven't been able to find proof. I have now heard this from four different people that are very reputable. I have also heard that there might be a new employee of the month. You can bet that I am working on that. I wish that people would speak out and we could approach our board about the highest paid Superintendent in Missouri.

Yes, now McGehee is dating a principal attorney with the law firm who represents the Lee's Summit School district. His judgement is so compromised now he really needs to resign; and one of the board members, a highly respected member of the Lee's Summit community, has called for it--publicly. But instead of truly answering to the questions which have been raised, McGehee defiantly snubs his nose and instead insists on smearing the good name of a really honest and decent man. McGehee is desperate...and up for a board approved raise very soon.

School Board Candidates

I am attempting to find information on the school board candidates.  It has been much easier in the past.  This year it has been more difficult.  Susan D. Coffman Susan Coffman has served as the Outreach Program Coordinator and Finance Officer for Lee’s Summit CARES since 2008. She has been a mayor-appointed representative to the Human Services Advisory Board, facilitated alcohol retailer trainings, organized the annual Holly Festival with the DARE program, managed bookkeeping and accounting, and served as the community liaison between LS CARES and local business, universities and the cities.  Coffman’s financial background includes work as a customer support specialist at Jack Henry & Associates Inc. for 11 years and assistant vice president and customer support specialist at Merchants Bank for 17 years.  Her community activities include serving on the Human Services Advisory Board, Paradise Park Advisory Board, Lee’s Summit Social Services Board, former treasurer of Rotary C
