CAC and It's Members

Lee’s Summit R-7 School District Jan. 14, 2013
Citizens’ Advisory Committee Meeting Minutes

We welcome involvement and opinions from the community. Our challenge has been to offer recommendations to the R-7 Board of Education which are fiscally sound and prudent, but also reflect this community’s vision for education. These are exciting and challenging times for education and the CAC! We welcome the opportunity to make a positive contribution to the community. We will continue in our role as communicators and update you on our progress and solicit your assistance as we move forward.

Citizens’ Advisory Committee Chairperson is Kent Kirby and Assistant Chairperson is Janis Duke. The membership includes citizens representing many walks of life. To name a few, we have included representatives from the R-7 Board of Education, Economic Development Council, Chamber of Commerce, PTA, Lee’s Summit Ministerial Alliance, R-7 staff members, the banking industry, higher education, health care, small business, parents and non-parents.

This is a Citizen's Advisory Committee, but it seems that most members are paid with the citizen's tax dollars and very few are objective.  And it would be worthwhile to mention that many of these folks serve on multiple committees in Lee's Summit and therefore the common citizen rarely has a voice.  It would seem that recommendations made by the the school district personnel and the folks that are on all of the other committees would be self serving.
