Three file for two seats on LS R-7 Board of Education
Even with new board members we have the same old thing. They are still all involved in different groups together. Oh what a tangled web we weave.

For more information about the R-7 Board of Education, visit
our website. Board
of Education members are elected to three-year terms during at-large elections.
Turk’s renomination by his party is challenged by Michael Burris of Kansas City, Bill Lindsey of Lee’s Summit and Berton A. Knox of North Kansas City.
Bill Lindsey wants to secure the borders against illegal immigration and then figure out a pathway to citizenship for those already here. He would encourage new businesses in the 5th District. He supports the Keystone pipeline and state control over educational standards.
Bill Lindsey was born in Kansas City, Kansas on August 11, 1962. Bill has been happily married to Sherrie for 20 years and they enjoy residing in Lee’s Summit. Bill has two sons, Alex and Joshua, and a daughter, Rachel.
Bill is a veteran having served 12 years in the Kansas National Guard. He graduated from Kansas City Kansas Community College in 1985 with an Associate of Arts degree in Liberal Arts. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from Graceland University (2002) and a Master of Arts degree in Leadership from Baker University (2006).
Bill for the past 7 years is an urban Kansas City teacher and debate coach and has taken his middle school debaters to the national championships competition three years in a row. He is a member of the Speech and Theatre Association of Missouri and the National Junior Forensics League. He was a part of the original planning group for Lees Summit 360 and family booster at many school events in Lee’s Summit. Bill and his family have hosted foreign exchange students and participated in the People to People Exchange program. Bill is active in his church and ministry events and has had past involvement in leadership in the Boy Scouts, where one of his sons is an Eagle Scout. Bill was also a High Adventure participant at Philmont Scout Ranch.
- On Immigration: “We need to secure our borders. If we don’t enforce the borders first we will have this problem again. Then we need to formulate a process with our border countries so we don’t encounter future problems. Once we have the laws enforced we can try and formulate a pathway to citizenship that will be fair and reduce harm to our citizens and economy”
- On Healthcare: “Repair, Replace and Repeal”
