Maybe he is afraid that he wouldn't get the job if the voters decided his fate and salary.


Earlier in the meeting, the district’s superintendent, David McGehee, told the board he had added another category of state legislation he is tracking in Jefferson City: “attacks on educators.”

Both the Missouri House and Senate have been discussing bills that would require public school superintendents to be elected rather than hired by boards of education and would cap superintendents’ salaries.


“These types of attacks on school administrators are likely to continue as long as we are fighting to stop bills that create vouchers and open enrollment,” both of which could be harmful to public schools, McGehee said.
