- Participate in scheduled board meetings and on at least one strategic committee
- Support all major annual fundraising events
- Hold each other/ourselves accountable for Gillis’ mission, financial viability, and ongoing success
- Make personal financial contributions at an appropriate level (“virtual shareholder”)
- Recommend contacts as board members and donors
- Seek additional financial resources from individuals, foundations, and corporations
- Network with other organizations who may provide support
- Engage constructively in annual board/committee assessment
- Support Gillis staff
- Avoid conflicts of interest and other unethical behavior
- Support board decisions, and treat board matters confidentially
- Be an ambassador and contact legislators/policy-makers on local/state/national levels
- Look for strategic alliances, as well as entrepreneurial/collaborative opportunities
- Celebrate successes – acknowledge major accomplishments!
